Wilier-Vittoria: Double European Silver for Juri Zanotti!

European runner-up. Twice. In both the Short Track (XCC) and the Olympic Cross-country (XCO). Juri Zanotti wrapped up the European Championships in Rivera (Monteceneri), in Switzerland’s Ticino region, with two outstanding silver medals around his neck.

Only Charlie Aldridge managed to beat him in both races—by just two seconds in the XCC and 12 seconds in the XCO. For Zanotti, it marks arguably the finest result of his Elite career so far and perfectly reflects the steady progression he has shown throughout the season.

In the XCO, Zanotti made an assertive start, positioning himself in the lead group from the opening laps while carefully managing the early stages of the race. As the pace intensified, he helped whittle the front group down until only he and Aldridge remained. On the final lap, the Brit found just enough to open a decisive gap and secure the European title, while Zanotti rode a composed finale to claim a well-deserved second silver medal of the weekend.

“It’s hard to imagine a better weekend than this,” said the Wilier-Vittoria MTB Factory Team rider. “I know these trails really well because I raced here when I was younger, and I know so many people from the area. As soon as I heard the European Championships would be held here, something clicked in my mind—I really wanted to perform well. To come away with these two silver medals is a dream come true, and I have to thank both the Italian National Team and Wilier-Vittoria for their support.”

There were also encouraging performances from Sofie Heby Pedersen, who finished 5th in the XCC and 8th in the XCO, with both races won by Sina Frei.

The team's focus now shifts back to the UCI Mountain Bike World Series, which resumes in Les Gets on 21–23 August.
