Returning to racing after the Cape Epic, Fabian Rabensteiner proves he's maintained excellent form at the Riva del Garda Bike Marathon. The South Tyrolean rider claimed victory by edging out Swiss rider Marc Stutzmann in a thrilling two-man sprint, after a tough race along a muddy 82.7 km course.
For the Wilier-Vittoria MTB Factory Team, it's another impressive triumph following the successes of Giada Specia and Simone Avondetto, who were crowned Italian XCC champions yesterday. Earlier this year, Rabensteiner had already secured the Andalucia Bike Race title.
"After 5 weeks without competing, I wasn't sure what to expect," Rabensteiner remarked. "Honestly, this victory is a surprise, but my legs felt strong, and I'm pleased with what I accomplished. I started off cautiously, but the slippery descents played to my advantage. I pushed hard, and soon it was just Stutzmann and me. We worked well together and decided to settle it in a sprint finish, where I knew I had a bit extra. However, after covering all those kilometers, anything could have happened. Fortunately, it all went better than expected.”
Regarding Specia and Avondetto, in the third round of the Internazionali d'Italia Series at the Montello circuit, Giada finished third in a race won by Martina Berta, while Simone secured fifth place in a race marked by Gioele Bertolini.
