At Cheile Grădiștei, Romania, this weekend, the European Championship jerseys are up for grabs. The European Championships UEC will kick off with the XCC and continue with the Team Relay and XCO races. The Wilier-Vittoria MTB Factory Team will be well represented, with all its riders except Ginia Lara Caluori, who is sidelined with the flu.
Simone Avondetto and Giada Specia will wear the Italian National Team jersey in the elite race, while Elian Paccagnella will compete in the U23 race. Cameron Orr will represent the English National Team, and Denmark will have Sofie Heby Pedersen, last year's European U23 champion, along with her brother Gustav Heby Pedersen in the U23 category.
The course, although modern, is expected to be quite muddy due to recent rains, making it even tougher than it already is. Nevertheless, overall, this should be good news for the Wilier-Vittoria bikers.
"It's always a great honor to see our riders defend the colors of their national teams," said Marco Trentin, General Manager of Wilier-Vittoria. "We can't wait to support them and wish them the best in this important competition. We're coming off a good period of races, and we're confident."
